Practice Details:

Excellent shared practice opportunity for a doctor who enjoys rural family practice, including hospital rounds. Family practitioner looking to job share by splitting an established full time practice. Practice in a group setting with physiotherapy, social work and mental health support. OB not required but could be accommodated. ER work not required.

This would be a practice sharing and overhead sharing opportunity. Ideally the hours of work would be 4-5 half days per week, with some additional charting / paperwork outside of those hours, which can be done from home. Some of the half days could be combined into a full day. This is a flexible arrangement, which can accommodate less work if desired.

Practice sharing partner is hoping to cover each other for holidays, which would mean working closer to full time for 6-10 weeks each year.

Additional income opportunities are available, including the doctor of the day program, surgical assists and paid committee work.

Nelson is known for its 4 season recreation: kayaking, sailing and paddle boarding in the summer, hiking and biking in the spring and fall, and skiing and snowboarding our well-known snow-covered mountains in the winter. Nelson also has a vibrant arts and music scene and fantastic food culture. We really do have something for everyone!

Qualifications:
  • Certificant of College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)
  • Current CPSBC license Current CMPA
Call Schedule:

Hours of work: half days 4-5 days/week. Flexible, some half days can be combined into full days
On call requirements: 1:6 weekends

RSA Incentives

Rural Incentives Include:
Recruitment Bonus: $7,500 (pro-rated if not full time)
Relocation: $9,000-15,000 (based on move location)
Fee Premium: 11.34%
Annual Retention Fee: $17,209.26

Rural Incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at time of offer.

Candidates with a BC or Canada student loan may be eligible for BC or Canada loan forgiveness programs for those living and working in rural community.


Nelson Medical Clinic:



Onsite tenants include: lab, pharmacy, acupuncture, massage therapy, structural integration, chronic disease nurse, dietician, hearing clinic and respiratory services. Treatment room available for use. Clinic hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
