Interior Health is recruiting for an exciting new senior medical leadership opportunity as the Senior Medical Director (SMD), South Okanagan.

In this newly created position for the South Okanagan, the Senior Medical Director (SMD) provides medical expertise and input into decision-making on strategic and operational matters in a dyad partnership with the Executive Director, South Okanagan. In this important role, the SMD provides leadership, direction, and support to the Chiefs of Staff, Department Heads, and Medical Directors within the South Okanagan region to inform and meet the strategic goals of Interior Health. The SMD builds capacity for effective medical staff governance, integrated leadership, and physician engagement. The position is currently a 0.2 FTE but will be reassessed as the role evolves.

The SMD will support Interior Health’s commitment to eliminate anti-Indigenous racism and discrimination and continue to create a culturally safe and inclusive workplace. Working alongside IH leaders and team members, the SMD will provide support to design and deliver an equitable health care system within Interior Health.

Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
  • Medical leadership training and experience Must be eligible for and maintain licensure with College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC)
